HANNIBAL, MO. -- Hannibal is working towards finding a new use for its flood plain.

The city recently wrapped up commercial flood buyouts in the Bear Creek area.

Now the city is in the process of getting plans drawn up to create ball fields in these empty lots for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Director Andy Dorian says it's a good way to open the land to the public in a way that is not threatened by future flooding.
