QUINCY, ILL. -- Illinois Governor Pat Quinn's recent budget proposal has mental health facilities worried about their future.
His proposal suggests closing two mental health facilities and two developmental disability institutions.
Community agencies such as Transitions in Quincy would then provide those patients with needed services.
Transitions is open to the idea but is worried about funding and the future of the patients.
"Well that's the serious crisis," said Mike Rein, executive director of Transitions in Quincy.
"The services that we provide are Medicaid eligible services, that means their necessary, that mean people need these services to survive," he said.
"If the services aren't there life becomes threatened and they will find themselves in a serious health crisis very quickly."
Rein believes that the Governor's proposal could work as long as the services are fully funded by the state.
