PIKE COUNTY, MO. -- Story by Brent Engel

Two men were injured Friday in a crash that shut down Highway 54 in Pike County Missouri for more than an hour.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound pickup driven by Blake Bornhop, 25, of Vandalia tried to overtake a vehicle in front of him just as that vehicle began a left turn.

The pickup ran off the road, returned to the highway and overturned.

Bornhop was taken to Pike County Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

Passenger Scott Kuck, 44, of Bowling Green, was thrown from the pickup. He was taken by helicopter to a Saint Louis hospital in serious condition.

The crash happened east of Bowling Green near the Alan T. Lynn steel sales business.
