Macomb celebrates birthday of its namesake

MACOMB, ILL. -- The city of Macomb plans a giant birthday party Tuesday night in honor of it's namesake.

April 3 is the 230th birthday of the city of General Alexander Macomb who was an important figure in the War of 1812.

Tuesday night a community birthday party celebrating the day will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in Chandler Park, next to the monuments for General Macomb.

As with any birthday party, there will be cake along with period music and a presentation on the life and contributions of General Macomb.
