QUINCY, ILL. -- Dozens of people took a plunge for diamonds at Quincy's Salvation Army Kroc Center Saturday. Only three took home the bling from the Diamond Dive.
The event allowed only 100 participants a chance to win a half-carrot diamond, or one of two quarter-carrot diamonds, donated by Emerald City Jewelers.
Each participant jumped into the pool and picked a number that corresponded with a prize. It cost $30 to dive and all the prizes were worth at least $25.
The money raised goes to Kroc scholarships which will make the center's memberships more affordable.
"We have almost 200 scholarships that we have given since we opened last September, so we're hoping to be able to do even more than that," Patty Douglas, development director at the Kroc Center said.
KHQA and Emerald City Jewelers were proud sponsors of Saturday's Diamond Dive.
