Debra Bradford one of 10 in state to recieve award

John Wood Community College student Debra Bradford recently received an award recognizing outstanding literacy students and volunteer tutors in Illinois.

The Secretary of State's Office and the Illinois Press Association recently awarded Bradford the Spotlight on Achievement and Spotlight on Service awards.

Students and tutors are nominated by local providers who receive literacy grand funding from the Secretary of State and Illinois State Library Literacy Office.

Each year 10 students and 10 tutors are honored.

Students received a $200 check from the IPA  Foundation, a plaque and personalized Illinois Blue Book from Secretary White.

Tutors received a plaque and personalized Illinois Blue Book from Secretary White and $200 donated to their tutoring organization by the IPA Foundation.
