HANNIBAL, MO. -- Fourteen drug arrests were made in Hannibal last week when officers with the Hannibal Police Department served warrants beginning on Thursday and continuing through the weekend. The arrests were the result of an investigation that went on for multiple months.

Hannibal Police made arrests on cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, any several other illicit drugs. The Department is targeting any kind of drug in the community, but the focus is on those distributing them.

"Our hope is that it will have an overall deterrent for crime throughout the city. We didn't focus on one particular drug we focused on anyone that was distributing drugs in our community," Chief Lyndell R. Davis explained.

The broad nature of the investigation allowed police to serve 14 arrest warrants. They are still searching for one other suspect linked to the investigation.

"Sometimes some of the drug dealers are interconnected, but in this case we found a lot of individuals that were operating. We continue to focus on this as well as many other opportunities that we believe might be a threat to the community involving drug dealing."

The drugs you are seeing are examples of some of the many found in the investigation. Chief Davis wants the public to know they're focusing in on drugs in the community.

"It is present, it is a threat to the community and we're taking strong action to combat that," Chief Davis said.
