QUINCY, ILL. -- It's only August, but you need to think Christmas for just a second.

For the third year in a row, Kirlin's Hallmark is collecting money for its Storybooks for Soldiers program.

Customers can buy a recordable storybook for $19.95 or donate any amount of money toward a book.

Kirlin's will then buy the books and ship them to soldiers overseas.

The soldiers will record their voices reading either 'The Night Before Christmas' or 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' and ship them back to the states.

Those books then go to the families of those soldiers so they can have their soldier home for the holidays.

In the past, Kirlin's has gotten letters from soldiers saying what a great idea this is.

"We also get letters from families who've received them going, "This was the best gift ever. I had mommy or daddy's voice." A lot of times they talk to them, but to have that book every night ... it's something, kids especially, hold onto that they've always got mommy or daddy's voice right there with them," Kirlin's Hallmark Quincy Mall Store Manager Dana Golden said.

The Storybook for Soldiers program only goes on through August 31st.

Employees have to box them up in September to get them mailed overseas in time to get them returned by Christmas.
