QUINCY, ILL. -- Firefighters continue to work through hot spots at Salvage Lumber in Quincy.

The business, at 219 Oak St., caught fire Sunday just before 8:30 p.m.  Crews were called to the scene of heavy smoke, which escalated to a five-alarm fire.

Salvage Lumber is an antique wood restoration shop. Owner Rick Delaney watched as the fire gutted his cabinet shop in the rear of the building. He said the front portion of the building is used for office space. Delaney said he had not been in the building since Friday and does not have insurance on the shop.

The building, located next to Bayview Building Supply, was vacant at the time of the fire. Crews contained the fire within 2 hours of arriving on scene.

Quincy police blocked traffic around a 2-block radius of the fire.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
