QUINCY, ILL. -- Employees of Blessing Hospital helped spread awareness of women's heart disease through a change in their every day attire ... wearing red. The Blessing Heart and Vascular Wear Red Day was created to help let people know that heart disease isn't just a men's disease.

Blessing employees purchased red shirts from the Heart and Vascular center to wear while working on Friday. Shirts sold for ten dollars and funds made go towards heart and vascular education.

Around 500 shirts were sold to employees in every wing of the hospital.

Their goal is to raise awareness to female heart disease and educate people on how to detect the signs of a heart attack.

Friday kicked off Blessing Heart and Vascular Center heart month. On February 16th, the center will host a Wellness Day at the Kroc Center in Quincy.
