A strong cold front stretching from Canada to Texas is expected to bring freezing temperatures to the region by Saturday morning.

A Canadian high pressure system will slowly build south and eastward with time bringing clear skies, light winds and dew points in low to mid 20s. These conditions will likely support widespread frost and subfreezing conditions late Friday night and early Saturday.

For those reasons the National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a "Freeze Warning" for the entire Tri-State area from Friday night through Saturday morning.

A "Freeze Warning" is issued when sub-freezing temperatures are forecast to threaten outdoor plants. These conditions could damage or kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
