Judge issues ruling in Schwartz Manor evictions

HANNIBAL, MO. -- It looks like two Hannibal senior citizens will have to find a new place to live.

On Wednesday, a retired judge issued a ruling that Bonnie Ray and another woman who received an eviction notice must move out.

Ray is accused of violating a "quiet enjoyment" clause in her lease.

At an eviction hearing last week, Executive Director Jack McCord testified that security cameras caught her putting a threatening note under another resident's door.

But Ray's attorney countered that the video wasn't visually clear and couldn't prove it was Ray.

KHQA's Rajah Maples called McCord for reaction.

He told her there's no such thing as a "win" in a situation such as this one and that he's never liked evictions.

But he says in this case, he felt like it was his job to do something to protect all residents.

Rajah also called Ray and her attorney for reaction.

We didn't hear back from the attorney, but Ray told Rajah she wasn't surprise by today's ruling and that she's not sure what the future holds for her at this time.
