Plant's property taxes benefit the district

PIKE CO, MISSOURI -- The Clopton school district could feel the effects of the Holcim plant closing, greatly.

We spoke to Clopton school district principal Larry Lagemann.  He told us that at this time, it's too early to judge how the school district will be affected.  Lagemann says the school district will be impacted in some way, but they don't know how.

"The Clopton school district relies on it. Holcim pays part of the property taxes to the school district, so that will have a direct bearing on them," said Louisiana Mayor Don Giltner.

Lagemann says the school district plans to meet County officials and expects to hear from the Missouri Department of Education this week.
