Six Tri-State nursing home residents are housed elsewhere tonight after water main break Friday morning.
Emergency crews responded here to the Lewis County Nursing Home around 7:30a.m. where the ceilings in two patient rooms had collapsed.
Canton Fire Chief Jeff McReynolds says a water main which fed the home's sprinkler system froze and broke, causing huge amounts of water to be released into the sheet rock.
Eventually the ceilings in two rooms collapsed. Four other rooms took on water.
Fortunately all of the residents who lived in the rooms affected are safe, with no injuries. They were were at breakfast at the time.
Chief McReynolds said, "We're relocating people within the nursing home. We might have to have people go home or transfer because two of the rooms have significant damage and four are wet with water on the floor we have to clean out."
Nursing home staff and firefighters with the Canton and LaGrange Fire Departments helped pack the residents' belongings to salvage what they could from the water.
