BURLINGTON, IOWA -- Burlington's police and fire departments along with the Iowa State Fire Marshal are investigating a fatal fire in Burlington Sunday night.
A report of smoke coming from 13-46 Griswold Street came in shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday night.
When crews arrived, they found the small one-and a half story house with heavy smoke.
Firefighters found an unconscious woman inside and tried to resuscitate her.
She was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Her name is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday morning.
KHQA's Rajah Maples spoke with a spokesperson with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.
The spokesperson told Rajah that investigators do *not* think this fire is related to a series of arson fires that happened in Burlington last month.
