Pork-A-Rama this Saturday

If you thought cooking for your family over the holidays was difficult, consider cooking up a feast for more than 13 hundred.

That's the job facing the Ursa Lions Club Friday as they prepare for Friday's fifty-second annual Pork-A-Rama at Unity High School in Mendon.

Members have been working since September planning for the meal and spent today wrapping potatoes and cooking up biscuits and gravy.

More than three thousand pounds of homemade sausage links will be consumed by hungry customers tomorrow...along with hundreds of pounds of pork chops and barbequed ribs.

But organizers say the most important ingredient are the customers and the helpers who make it possible.

Gene Hendrickson, Ursa Lions Club Member said, "We could not do this without the volunteers, the people who volunteer and come to help every year. We couldn't do it without those people."

The Pork-A-Rama begins at 6a.m. Saturday, January 17 and runs until one in the afternoon at Unity High School in Mendon.

Breakfast is served between 6a.m. and 10:30a.m. Lunch is from 11a.m. to 1p.m.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4.50 for children at the door.

All proceeds from the event go to charity.
