Two Rivers Regional Council will see benefits
Quincy, IL - With electric rates on the rise these days, many of you are looking to take advantage of energy savings. The Two Rivers Regional Council and NECAC expect to help more homeowners save more money, with the help of federal stimulus money.
Community Service Director with Two Rivers Regional Council, Becky Pruden told KHQA she doesn't know exactly how much the agency will get, but she was told they can expect to increase production by 4 times. Pruden says right now they help weatherize about 80 to 100 homes.
With the extra money, contractors can weatherize about 400. Pruden says weatherizing your home can save about 30% in your energy bill. She says this stimulus money couldn't come at a better time.
"We just wouldn't be able to serve near the people, and with this new money we'll have to hire more contractors for the program as well as more applicants, so it's going to be great for the economy," said Pruden.
