Big Brothers Big Sisters kicks off fundraiser

Quincy, IL - The Casino Lanes in Quincy was full of smiles Saturday as Big Brothers Big Sisters bowled for kids sake.

Saturday kicked off the Bowl For Kids Sake fundraiser.  It's the organization's biggest fundraiser, which supports the group throughout the entire year.

You'll remember last year, Big Brothers Big Sisters held a 100 mentors in 100 days campaign to match more kids with mentors.  The group exceeded its goal, matching 109 kids, but there are still many on a waiting list.

Program Director Kathy Brink told KHQA there are 44 boys waiting to be matched.  Brink says this is a good opportunity for you to make an impact on a child's life.

"So many youngsters need a role model.  People don't realize, they think they're coming as a volunteer to help that 1 child, but actually, it helps our whole community," Brink said.

Bowl for Kids Sake is May 15th and 16th.  So get your teams of five or six together to help make a difference in a child's life.
