Lagging state payments, other issues causing budget woes
Cornerstone based in Quincy is facing financial challenges.
Cornerstone Foundations for Families provides counseling, psychiatric services and case work to people of all ages.
The agency faces the same situation as many others across Illinois - the state is behind in making reimbursement payments for some of the services Cornerstone provides and those dollars normally only cover a fraction of the cost it takes to provide those services.
That means Cornerstone has to do some fundraising of its own in order to continue to provide much-needed services to the community.
One of its biggest fundraisers, a Golf Benefit, is coming up May 15 at the Spring Lake Country Club.
Executive Director John Hirner says funds raised during the event are needed to continue services to address an individual's problems before they impact the community.
Executive Director John Hirner said, "Most of our services are preventative in nature. We're attempting to help people deal with the challenges they face now so it doesn't become an issue in the future."
The Golf Benefit is coming up Friday, May 15 at the Spring Lake Country Club. In the case of rain, you'll receive a certificate for a round of golf.
If you'd like to participate, contact Cornerstone at 217-222-8254 or log onto www.cornerstone-quincy.org
Registration and Lunch begins at 11:30am and the Shot Gun Start is at 12:30pm.
