The town of West Point will get assistance from the county to keep residents safe.
For the second year, the Lee County Sheriff's Department has signed on to supplement the town's needs for a law enforcement presence.
Right now the town of West Point has two part-time reserve officers to patrol the city.
This agreement allows the county to answer calls when those officers are not on duty.
Sheriff Buck Jones says it's a win- win for both the county and West Point.
The county receives $26,000 worth of additional funding, while the town has twenty-four hour law enforcement protection.
