Program encourages reading

Quincy, Ill.-- With school out for the summer, your kids are going to need something to do.

Why not read?  The Quincy Public Library kicked of its annual summer reading program Saturday afternoon.  The event reminds students and their parents that the library is still here, even though school is out.

It also encourages them to keep reading for fun throughout the summer. Saturday, families were treated to a petting zoo. Performances by the twirl girls and the Whip guy.  The summer reading program is for all ages. The number of books you read can get you some great prizes.
