CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - State transportation officials have approved some new rules to get an Iowa driver's license.
The Iowa Transportation Commission approved amendments last week to regulations regarding the documents needed to prove identity.
Transportation officials will no longer accept just an out-of-state driver's license as proof. Other documents will also be needed - birth certificate, certificates of naturalization, military identification or a valid U.S. passport. Kim Snook, of the office of driver services, says states differ on what is needed to prove a person's identity or citizenship. Snook says the new rules are aimed at reducing possible fraud.
