Be on the lookout for a cell phone scam.

One of our employees got a call this week from this number: 917-645-9756.

We did some research and found the number originates from New York City.

We also found out, this is one call you should avoid.

A call from a number you don't recognize. What do you do? Some may answer it thinking it's a wrong number, or a long lost friend, maybe a family member who's in trouble. If you get this number on your caller ID, it's best to just ignore it.

After looking further into it, KHQA found several websites complaining about getting calls on their cell phone.

Some of the people left comments saying they answered the call, and the person on the other end said they were from a credit card company, and wanted personal information.

As we've told you many times, never give out your personal information over the phone to anyone.

If you get a call like this, it's best just to ignore it.

We called the number back to see what we got.

We got a recording saying this number is no longer in service.
