Cool temperatures bring down attendance numbers
QUINCY, Illinois-Cooler temperatures this summer brought down the attendance numbers at Quincy's public pools.
Here's what we found out for this KHQA Fact Finder report.
Overall numbers are down for the year at all the city pools.
The summer started out good in June.
For 9 days attendance was over 400 at each of the pools.
But a drastic change in temperatures during July brought that number down to zero for the month.
Here in August the numbers have gone up slightly but not to the level of previous years.
One thing that has changed is more people are choosing Indian Mounds to swim at than ever before.
Mike Bruns, the director of program services, says that Indian Mounds is a more family friendly pool where Wavering is three separate pools.
The Quincy Park District was also forced to close Wavering two days early because a filter pump went out.
