KEOSAUQUA, Iowa (AP) - Relatives of a rural Bonaparte family killed last year vow to show their outrage in victim impact statements and letters they hope will reach Shawn Bentler, who was convicted of five counts of murder in May.

Bentler's parents, Michael and Sandra Bentler and his three teenage sisters died from gunshot wounds in October 2006.

Shawn Bentler is scheduled to be sentenced June 19 to life in prison.

Up to 15 family members will be permitted to address him through their statements at his sentencing hearing. Others can send their letters to the Van Buren County District Court to be recorded in the case file.

Only a handful of letters addressed to District Judge Michael Mullins had been delivered as of Friday to the court office in Keosauqua, but family members say that trickle will become a flood this week.

Shawn Bentler is appealing his conviction.

Prosecutors say they believe he killed his family to gain control of his parents' $2.8 million dollar estate.
