Iowa received recalled H1N1 vaccine

DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting the state was allocated approximately 28,600 doses of H1N1 influenza vaccine for children that has been recalled.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday announced a non-safety related voluntary recall of certain lots of H1N1 influenza vaccine. The lots were recalled after the manufacturer, Sanofi Pasteur, found during testing that the strength of the vaccine was below predetermined levels.
Immunization and Tuberculosis Bureau Chief Don Callaghan says despite the strength of the vaccine being slightly below specifications, there is no significant reduction in the immune response in those who received the vaccine.
Callaghan added there is no need to revaccinate anyone who received one or both doses of the affected vaccine.
The CDC estimates swine flu has sickened about 50 million Americans and killed about 10,000.
