MACOMB/MOLINE, ILL. -- The following is a press release from University Relations, Western Illinois University:
Evening classes beginning at 5 p.m. on the Western Illinois University-Macomb and Quad Cities campuses are canceled Tuesday, Feb. 9 due to forecasted hazardous winter weather conditions, including blowing snow.
The Quad Cities 60th Street campus facility will close at 5 p.m.
Classes on both campuses will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10; however, a weather advisory will remain in effect for WIU-Macomb and WIU-QC through noon Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Tuesday's performance of "Jesus Christ Superstar" on the WIU-Macomb campus is being held as scheduled at 8 p.m. in Western Hall.
The WIU policy on limiting University operations because of emergency conditions is available in the Administrative Procedures Handbook, which can be viewed at wiu.edu/policies/emergency.php.
If weather conditions are extreme, the decision to close the University and/or cancel classes will be made by the president by 6 a.m. to better assist employees and students who must commute farther distances.
If the University is closed, an alert will be sent using the WIU Emergency Alert System.
Notification will also be sent to area media outlets, and all weather-related announcements will be immediately posted on the University's home page (wiu.edu) and on the WIU local area network bulletin boards.
As weather conditions change, updates will be posted at wiu.edu.
