University looks to city for $6 million
QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy University is looking for a $6 million dollar loan from the city.
The university wants to borrow the money in bonds to help pay for a new 92 bed residence hall. The new dorm would feature private suites with modern amenities along with a heating and air conditioning climate control system.
QU's Vice President of business and finance Chuck Davis says the school wanted to build more suite-style dorms to attract more students. He says the university is also looking at one of the largest enrollment classes in twelve years.
"We're back up to where we're going to have 1,050 traditional students on campus. For those that come from out of town or don't live close and don't commute, we need to offer them housing on campus...we want to give them the offering that they want," said QU's VP of business and finance, Chuck Davis.
Davis says the money students pay to live in the dorm goes toward building costs and paying off the loan.
