HAMILTON, ILL. (AP) -- It could be several weeks before authorities know why Hamilton School Superintendent Gaylord "Jim" Jackson died over the weekend.
Jackson was found in his home in the western Illinois community of Hamilton on Sunday.
Hamilton Assistant Police Chief Bryan Finch says an autopsy has been conducted but the final results may not be known for up to six weeks.
Jackson took over as superintendent of Hamilton's schools in July 2006.
He had been off the job for the last five months after taking an indefinite leave of absence for health reasons.
Jackson previously worked in several schools in the Springfield area.
Hamilton is in Hancock County along the Mississippi River.
