Orientation set for JWCC ag programs

PERRY, ILL. --
New students and prospective students interested in learning more about John Wood Community College's agriculture, agribusiness, agronomy, animal science, beef and swine specialist programs are encouraged to attend a special orientation and registration session Monday, June 14. The session will be held at the JWCC Agricultural Education Center on Route 104 near Perry, Illinois, beginning with sign‐in at 8:15 a.m. The event will begin at 8:45 a.m. and conclude with optional tours and testing at 1p.m.

The morning session of the program will include information about admissions, financial assistance and scholarships. Details on JWCC’s agriculture courses, certificates and degrees will be shared and representatives from the University of Illinois will explain the unique opportunities available for JWCC students through the University’s Orr Research Center. Other presenters will provide overviews of the JWCC Student Government Association, Agriculture Club and Agriculture Alumni Association. Following the presentations, students may choose to register for fall classes on site.
The JWCC Agriculture Alumni Association will provide a complimentary lunch at noon.
During the afternoon session, tours of the JWCC Agricultural Education Center and University of Illinois research farms will be provided. New JWCC students who have not yet taken the required COMPASS testing will have the opportunity to do so following lunch.
JWCC Agricultural Education Center classes beginTuesday, August 17. Many classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays only and students may attend full time or part time. Classes can also be taken individually based on students’ schedules.
The last day of regular registration for fall is August 5; students registering August 9‐13 will be assessed a $75 late fee. Registration for structured classes after August 14 require prior approval and students will be assessed a late fee.
