After ten years, a new rescue truck has been added to the Macomb, Illinois Fire Department fleet.

This vehicle is used for specialized rescues including EMS calls and auto extrications.

The new truck cost a total of 200-thousand dollars which came from the city and the left over cash from selling their old one.

Andy Taylor, the Fire Chief here in Macomb, says this truck will cost the city less in the long run.

Chief Taylor said, "It has a lot of advantages. Replacing our old truck... it was more economical, it saves on gas mileage. It's a lot safer for our firefighters, it's not as top heavy as our other rescue truck, which was a lot bigger. We can carry more personnel on this one. So, while this truck is a lot smaller, it also carries every bit of equipment we had on the other rescue."

Chief Taylor adds no more vehicles are in the agenda for the near future.
