CHICAGO (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn got an earful from a mother upset about poor state funding for education.
Diane Sajdak of Chicago confronted Quinn after a Wednesday news conference on Chicago's southwest side.
She railed about what teacher layoffs and burgeoning class size could mean at her children's nearby school.
She called it "ridiculous."
Quinn tried to defend himself by saying he had proposed revenue for education by raising the state income tax.
Lawmakers ignored his proposal despite facing a $13 billion budget deficit.
Quinn will have to make major decisions about how the state spends money on education in the coming fiscal year.
