SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- A pair of federal grants will allow researchers to continue searching for documents dealing with President Abraham Lincoln.

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission has granted The Papers of Abraham Lincoln group nearly $145,000.

The group said Thursday that it's also to receive matching funds of $250,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The money is to go to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation, which will give it to the group.

The Papers of Abraham Lincoln is a project of Springfield's Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

It aims to identify, digitize, transcribe and publish all documents written to and by Lincoln.

Editor Daniel Stowell says the money provides "vital support" for the efforts.
