Drug arrest near Pittsfield

The following is a press release from the Illinois State Police:

The Illinois State Police (ISP) District 20-Pittsfield announced the arrest of Bryan F. Horvath, age 26, of South Bend, Indiana on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis, and possession of materials utilized in defrauding a drug screen.

On August 12, 2010 at 11:45 a.m., a traffic stop initiated on I-72 near mile marker 4 for a failure to signal violation resulted in additional charges. The driver, identified as Horvath admitted to having drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and retrieved a cannabis pipe for officers. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a total of 157 grams of cannabis hidden in the trunk and six additional cannabis pipes. Also located with the cannabis paraphernalia were items used in defrauding urinalysis tests.

Horvath was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drug screen defrauding materials. Horvath was lodged at the Pike County Jail.

The public is reminded criminal charges are formal accusations and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
