QUINCY, ILL. -- Average SAT scores in Illinois dropped across all subjects for the class of 2010. The good news is that our local public schools did not see the same results.

We asked Quincy High School Principal Danielle Edgar how her students tested in both the SAT and ACT. She says the school's seen a steady score across the board with SAT's. Though only a small percentage of Illinois students take that test.

The best scores have come out of the district's ACT testing.

"We are catching up to the state averages. Our scores have continues to see an increase over the past five years, and this year, our average was at an all time high, actually since they began testing all juniors in the state of Illinois," said Edgar.

KHQA asked Edgar how important these test scores are for students and the district.

Edgar says almost all of the district's eligible students took the ACT last year. The most problematic area was math. She says scores have plateaud over the years. Edgar told us the district has started revamping its math curriculum to help fight that average.
