Wiring to blame for South 12th street fire

QUINCY, ILL. -- UPDATE
Bad wiring is to blame for a Thursday afternoon fire in Quincy.
A passerby called 911 when they saw lots of smoke coming from the basement of the house on South 12th street.
Tri-Township Firefighters got the fire under control quickly but stayed at the scene to make sure that flames had not traveled up the wall or into the attic.

The Tri Township Fire Department battled a house this afternoon on South 12th street in Quincy.
Crews were called to 2502 South 12th Street at about 2:00 pm.
A passerby saw smoke coming from the basement of the two story brick house and called 9-1-1.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in a matter of minutes.
There were no reported injuries.
No word on what caused the fire
