HANNIBAL, MO. -- The Hannibal Fire Department formally invited the public to tour its newest administrative building today. Located at 2333 Palmyra Road, the building once stood vacant.

Barrington Broadcasting donated the building to Hannibal's Fire Department. Its administrators moved in back in March, but the building needed work.

Acting Fire Chief Bill Madore says the move from Station One in downtown Hannibal to Palmyra Road was a much needed improvement for the department's working environment.

"We simply were just running out of room. So this gives us a place to work safely and effectively and hopefully to accomplish more," said Hannibal Acting Fire Chief Bill Madore.

The new building will house Hannibal's acting fire chief, deputy fire chief, training officers and office manager. Though it is not a fully functioning fire station, an engine is on reserve at the administrative building in case of an emergency.
