Senator Dan Rutherford, Republican candidate for State Treasurer, is once again leading in technology interface with the electorate.
He is helping his campaign supporters save gas money by throwing a Virtual Election Night Party on his website www.DanRutherford.org.
The Virtual Election Night Party will consist of a live audio video stream as the Rutherford supporters wait and react to the vote tallying for State Treasurer and other state-wide races, as well as Congressional and Legislative contests.
The Virtual Party will also provide tweets by Rutherford on his Twitter profile, which is also available on his website.
"Illinois is a big state. I traveled thousands and thousands of miles on the campaign. I want supporters from all corners of Illinois to be able to celebrate the culmination of a great campaign, even if they cannot be with us physically on election night. I want all of my friends, supporters and Illinois citizens to be part of the victory," said Rutherford.
Virtual parties have become a growing part of contemporary culture and video streaming technologies have given rise to the popularity. Advances in computer networking combined with powerful home computers and modern operating systems have made streaming practical.
Rutherford announced his candidacy via social media and has consistently utilized that medium in his state-wide campaign.
The Dan Rutherford celebration party will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Pontiac Elks Club, 459 Elks Club Road, Pontiac (Off of Route 116, just West of Route 66). The Virtual Election Night Party will begin at the same time.
All friends and supporters are welcome to attend at the Elks Club, but those that cannot are invited to follow the stream.
