HANNIBAL, MO. -- Colder weather has hit the Tri-states and that means some people will have to start making choices.
The Douglass Community Center in Hannibal held its monthly USDA food distribution for Marion County residents this morning.
The center has seen an increase in the number of families that come to the distributions.
They also hold an emergency food pantry as often as people need it.
The amount of people that come to that has doubled in the last couple of months.
"They need to be warm, they need to have utilities and sometimes you can't do both. Maybe it's medicine they have to have so the food pantries all over the area here are just a great source to help take the edge off and make sure you don't have hungry children, particularly," said Douglass Community Center Executive Director Dave Dexheimer.
Last month there were more than 300 families that went through the commodities distribution in about three hours.
