One person was hospitalized and four others evacuated when an apartment caught fire late Sunday afternoon in Louisiana, Missouri.

Fire Chief Mike Lesley reports smoking in bed was the cause of the fire.

The apartment where the fire originated was heavily damaged, and the other units sustained smoke and water damage.

The Louisiana and Buffalo township fire departments were called at 4:44 p.m. Sunday to 207 South 3rd Street.
