MEDIAPOLIS, IOWA -- The Iowa State Fire Marshall's Office is trying to determine the cause of a house fire in Mediapolis early Sunday morning that killed one person.

Crews were called just after 2:00 a.m. to 622 Middle Street.

They found heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence.

After the fire was put out, a search of the house turned up the victim.

A name has not yet been released.

The body was taken to Iowa State Medical Examiner's office in Ankney for an autopsy.
