Seatbelt enforcement held in Quincy
QUINCY, ILL. -- Local law enforcement in Adams County got a jump start on keeping motorists safe this holiday season.
I-DOT, Illinois State Police and the Quincy Police Department held a safety belt enforcement zone at 4th and Main in Quincy on Tuesday, November 23rd.
It was a kick off to continue the 'Click it or Ticket' and 'You Drink, You Drive, You Lose' campaigns through the Thanksgiving travel season.
"And unfortunately as traffic increases on our roads, that's more exposure, that's more chance of cars bumping into one another. And when they do that it's important to be buckled up and important that you're driving sober," said Shannon Alderman, Director of I-DOT's Impaired Driving Program.
If the state of Illinois continues on its current path, this could be the second straight year with fewer than 1,000 motor vehicle fatalities, something that hasn't happened since 1921.
