QUINCY, ILL. -- Hey, do you have an opinion of fruit cake?
Fruit cake, also known as that brick of fruit that never seems to go bad, gets mixed reviews around the holidays.
Local bakeries in the Quincy area are selling out, with more demand than in previous years.
That's the case at Underbrink's Bakery. As popular as the dessert seems, we asked the owner Leroy Rossmiller how he felt about it.
"They say the trick to a good fruit cake is not getting it down, it's keeping it down. Eh, I'll eat a piece, but it's not my favorite thing. It has a lot of good things in it. It should taste better than it does, for all the good things I put in it," said Rossmiller.

Real fruit cakes take more than a month to prepare, so once a bakery sells out, they're done for the season.
