Hamilton city council members voted to adopt a tax increment financing district at this week's meeting.

According to the Daily Gate City, the TIF district will encompass properties on both sides of U.S. Highway 136 from the east edge of town west to the Highway 96 junction.

There are 71 properties including 96 structures in the district.

A TIF district raises money from assessed valuation rates, but does not raise property taxes.
