If you have the original receipt, retail stores will give a full refund on the original method of payment on most merchandise.

If you have a gift receipt, an item can be easily exchanged for something of equal or of less value or can be refunded on a store gift card.

Some retailers accept returns without a receipt.

In this case, the lowest sale price will be refunded to a gift card as store credit.

So to save yourself the trouble, keep your receipts handy just in case you have to return your gifts.
