QUINCY, ILL. -- Residents of Quincy should not see an increase in their tax rates for fiscal year 2011.
Monday night the city council will adopt a Tax Abatement Ordinance.
Quincy Comptroller Ann Scott says that means the city will not have to levy some of the items it normally is required to levy. And residents shouldn't see any increases. "Our projected rate is going to show no increase from last year's rate, so most homeowners should not see any increase, unless they've had an increase in their EAV. So the homeowners should experience no increase, the city will get a little bit extra, about $156,000 extra, due to the EAV growth," she says.
Again, this Tax Abatement Ordinance is for Fiscal year 2011 which begins May 1, 2011.
