QUINCY, ILL. -- If you had a hard time parking in the downtown Quincy area Saturday afternoon, you weren't alone.
The "Great American Wingfest" drew hundreds if not thousands of people to the Oakley Lindsay Center. Chicken wings were the main attraction as 16 cooking teams showed off their best recipes while competing for prizes.
Overall, the day was a record success for the hosts, the Great River Restaurant Association.
"It's the best turnout we've ever had. They're having a blast in there. There's all kinds of things to do. You can socialize with friends, there's a Miss Wing contest, a 50/50 drawing, spin the wheel. Just a lot of activities going on," said Mark Aleman, the president of the GRRA.
This was the third annual Wingfest in Quincy. The proceeds for the event will go toward a scholarship fund for students at John Wood Community College. Last year, the event raised $2,000.
