QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy Park Board approved its abbreviated capital budget at Wednesday night's meeting.
Last month Commissioners spoke at length about capital improvement bonds. Commissioners were presented with lists of improvement projects and their costs.
It was decided the Park District staff would come back to this month's meeting with a list of projects that were more urgent in nature than others.
The District has about $500,000 earmarked for the Cedar Creek Trail project.
Instead, that money will be used to take care of immediate park concerns. Bonds will be issued in the fall.
The money will be used for items such as: an electrical panel upgrade at Boots Bush, replacement of playground equipment at Moorman and various other upgrades in the District's parks.
Executive Director Dan Gibble told Commissioners he and his staff looked over the concerns and decided what needed to be worked on first.
Several "large scale matters" will need to be addressed in the years to come, the staff says. That includes the completion of Cedar Creek Trail, which is slated to cost $6.4 million, and the renovation of Wavering Aquatic Center which looks to be anywhere from $3 to $5 million.
