HAMILTON, ILL. -- Every day, it is a battle to try and save a buck. The same goes for local farmers.
At least there are options in the Tri-States.
Sullivan Auctioneers held its Gigantic Spring Machinery Consignment Auction about 2 miles east of Hamilton Tuesday.
Thousands of people turned out to buy and sell farm and construction equipment brought in for this special auction. We asked the owner of Sullivan Auctioneers why this event draws in so many people.
"There are always changing opportunities. Some are getting bigger, some of getting smaller. Others are getting out while some are just starting. So there's always a a need for folks to be able to bring their machinery in and buy something they need or market something they're looking to sell. So if it's been a pretty popular sale here and it gives folks the opportunity to come here and do business," said Jim Sullivan.
Now, Tri-State farmers are itching to get into their fields and use the machinery they bought today. Other farmers are enjoying the extra cash.
"Today, I was a seller. We bought and sold several pieces of equipment at different auctions the Sullivans had and they do a great job selling John Deere equipment. Today, we sold our 8120 front wheel assist John Deere. Brought a fair price for both the seller and the buyer, so we're both tickled," said Mike Walker, a resident of Ft. Madison.
