QUINCY, ILL. -- Voter turnout's expected to be around 18 to 20 percent this year in Adams County. That's about five percent higher than four years ago during a similar election.
The school board elections are a hot topic right now and that has more people voicing their opinions.
"I found it to be very important because with the future of kids and the younger generation, I want to do my part to vote for who I believe would be right on the school board and maybe hope it'll go the way I want and can always hope it is anyway," said Tom Bergman, an Adams County voter. "From all the conversations that I've talked to people about, I hope they come and express their feelings on a ballot, and sure believe it needs to be done that way."
Adams County Clerk Georgia Volm says she's excited to see the amount of voter participation this year.
"They're asking really good questions and it really leads you to believe they're really paying attention. I've had questions regarding 'why the difference in language on the ballot.' Those are questions never asked before," said Volm.
She says while the county lost the Army Reserve as a polling place this year, it added a new location off 36th Street in Quincy, the Christ Lutheran Church.
